Will there be a Season 2 of The Day of the Jackal?
After leaving us with a major cliffhanger in the final episode of Season 1, fans are itching to find out exactly what happened during the Jackal’s latest mission.
Fortunately, there is more in store for The Day of the Jackal, with The Hollywood Reporter confirming that the series’ production company Peacock has greenlit the spy series for Season 2.

Is The Day of the Jackal a true story?
The Day of the Jackal is a fictional story, but it is deeply rooted in real historical events.
Based on Frederick Forsyth’s 1971 novel, the storyline centres around an assassin hired to eliminate then-French President Charles de Gaulle during the turbulent political climate of the 1960s, before launching into the cat-and-mouse manhunt for the Jackal across Europe.
While the title character is not based on a specific individual, the novel and 1973 are inspired by actual attempts on de Gaulle’s life, with the opening of the novel providing an accurate depiction of Jean-Marie Bastien-Thiry’s attempt to assassinate the French President in August 1962.

Who is the cast of The Day of the Jackal?
In the contemporary reimagining of the 1971 novel, Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne takes on the role of the elusive assassin, while Lashana Lynch, known for her role in No Time to Die, plays a dedicated intelligence officer determined to thwart his plans.
Joining Redmayne and Lynch is an impressive ensemble cast of British talent, including Charles Dance and Richard Dormer from Game of Thrones, Chukwudi Iwuji from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Lia Williams from The Crown.
Additionally, Úrsula Corberó, famed for her role in Money Heist, is also set to join the series.

When does The Day of the Jackal Season 2 come out?
While we don’t know just yet what the exact release date for Season 2 is, we do know that the first season had a one-year gap between production wrapping and the series being released.
According to The Direct, if the latest instalment follows a similar production pattern, we can anticipate that The Day of the Jackal Season 2 will premiere in late 2026.
