Among the new contestants are Courtney and Grant, a married couple from Sydney, NSW. Having been married for three years, the opportunity to go on The Block has come at a perfect time for them. “We don’t have kids, so I feel like this is a really good time. We want to go into it with a positive attitude and have fun,” Courtney said.

Courtney, 32, and Grant, 30, met in Sydney nine years ago when Grant was a bartender. Despite living in different cities—Courtney in Brisbane and Grant in London—they never lost touch and eventually married three years ago. Although their initial plans for a grand wedding in Malta were disrupted by COVID-19, they celebrated their union with a small wedding on the South Coast of NSW in Milton.

Their pride and joy is their home in Denham Court, Western Sydney, which they built and styled together. Although they lack extensive renovation experience, their work backgrounds in design and landscaping are expected to give them a valuable edge on The Block.

Courtney works as an event account manager at a major events hire company and also runs a growing online furniture business called The Lazy Stylist, boasting 57,000 Instagram followers. “Everything feels like a dream at the moment,” Courtney said of her situation, her business, and being a Blockhead.

Grant, a landscape business development manager, is known for his strong opinions and pride in his Maltese heritage. His work in the landscaping world is anticipated to be particularly beneficial during the latter stages of the competition. “I make sure my work is planned down to a tee, but that sometimes leaves me no time for my personal life,” he admitted.

Despite their occasional disagreements, Courtney and Grant believe they work very well together. “I think we will get on each other’s nerves a bit as we will be working long hours,” Grant said. “But every time we argue it doesn’t come from a bad place and we always have a joke afterwards.”

They plan to bring a unique “Moditerranean” style to The Block, a modern take on the traditional Mediterranean style prominent in Australia for decades. Courtney believes The Block is destined to be a positive experience for them. “I know it sounds like a cliché, but I always felt there was a bit more for us,” she said.

As The Block embarks on its 20th season, fans are sure to be inspired by Courtney and Grant’s journey, their dynamic partnership, and their innovative style. Don’t miss the new season of The Block—and stay tuned to see Courtney and Grant’s first room reveals!
