Awhina is instantly smitten with Adrian, even joking that he’s too hot for her and struggling to make eye contact during her vows. Meanwhile, Adrian impresses her with his heartfelt words—before cheekily dropping that he has a six-month-old… Aussie shepherd. The joke lands well, but it also throws Awhina into a panic, knowing she has a real bombshell to share.

In one of the most dramatic exits of the season, Adrian Arouzou seemingly left Married at First Sight Australia—but not for the usual reasons. Unlike past participants who’ve walked out over toxic relationships or explosive dinner party showdowns, Adrian’s exit stemmed from something unexpected: a promotional shoot snub.
During the mid-season episode, Adrian abruptly packed his bags and left the experiment after he was excluded from a MAFS promo shoot. The kicker? His bride, Awhina, had no idea he was gone until she returned to an empty apartment. It wasn’t until a heated phone call that she found out why he left—and she wasn’t happy.
Awhina made it clear that Adrian’s decision didn’t sit well with her, arguing that the show is supposed to be about love, not media opportunities. Her point? If Adrian was truly in the experiment to find “the one,” why would missing out on a promo shoot be enough to make him walk?
Adrian, on the other hand, felt blindsided by the exclusion and clearly saw it as a sign that he wasn’t being taken seriously in the process.

Awhina herself has seemingly weighed in, during a chat with Pedestrian. When asked by the publication if her husband was on the show for the right reason, she explained that people can have “two truths in one.”
“You can go on to an experiment like this because of what you want that comes after, like with the exposure, and then you can also be open to love,” she shared. “You know, [Adrian] does have his E-commerce business, he did have a social media platform. And yes, he does like attention, but you can still go on a show like this, and have, you know, ulterior motives, but still be open to love.
“I do think that Adrian definitely went on the experiment for the exposure, but he can still be open to love.”
JasminEats speaks out on friendship Adrian Araouzou
Before Adrian Arouzou became one of MAFS‘ most controversial grooms, he was best known for his TikTok food content, creating videos alongside Sydney food influencer and cookbook author Jasmin Weston.
The two shared a popular TikTok page, Sweet Sundayz, and at the time of filming MAFS, they were close friends—so close that Jasmin even attended Adrian’s wedding to Awhina and made an appearance during the show’s ‘friends and family week.’
However, it now seems that their friendship has come to an end as Jasmin takes to Instagram to set the record straight on the current status of their relationship.
Just hours before the pre-recorded episode went to air, Jasmin posted an apology to Awhina and her sister Cleo, expressing regret for defending Adrian on the show.
In a statement shared to TikTok and Instagram, she admitted that she only knew Adrian’s side of the story at the time but, after watching the season unfold, she now understands Awhina’s frustrations.
She even claimed that Adrian’s behaviour in his MAFS relationship mirrored their own friendship, describing his “manipulation tactics” as “copy and paste.”
Jasmin officially ended their friendship—and their TikTok page—at the end of last year, and has since removed most of their shared content.
Are Awhina and Adrian still together? Their final vows explained
Despite all the hiccups, Awhina and Adrian found themselves at final vows, and whilst for others, like Jamie and Dave, the opportunity saw them embark on the happily-ever-afters, Adrian and Awhina’s speeches left more questions than answers.
Initially, it looked as if the pair were set to end their relationship.
“I didn’t feel seen by you, truly seen. I tried my best at times to express what I need from you, and often felt like a losing battle,” Awhina explained. “The fact you live in Sydney, while I have my life in Perth, my son’s life is there, my community is there…The brown haired, brown eyed boy I’ve been looking for is at home, missing his mum. You’re not my future right now. This is where our journey ends.”
“I understand how important it is for you to get back to be with your son, and that’s the problem,” Adrian replied. “After everything, I believe these hurdles are too big to overcome, which is why I’m now deciding that it is best for both of us that I walk away.”
End of story, right? Well, not exactly. As soon as the couple finished their emotional speeches, they ended up changing their mind, agreeing to catch up later that night and continue talking. Chatting with the producers, Awhina explained that they were open to seeing how and if their relationship could work after the show, adding that there was no pressure.
“What will the future look like for you guys?” the producers asked. “The future is bright,” Adrian replied coyly.
